Brief
A place to cook and eat outside properly - bench space, storage and shelter, not a barbecue pushed against a wall.
Site
A flat terrace behind the house with a strong prevailing wind from one side and no existing services.
Approach
The cooking run is built into a masonry surround with hardwood framing and joinery either side, sheltered by a roofed structure and open to the garden.
Detail
Bench heights are set for real use, timber is oiled on the same schedule throughout, and the oven mouth sits clear of the working bench.
